The Art Elective Programme (AEP) is designed to enable students with artistic abilities to undertake an enriched Art programme. The AEP curriculum aims to develop students’ conceptual and analytical thinking and creativity. It covers historical and theoretical studies in Art, places emphasis on creative processes and exposes students to a wide range of media and art forms. The AEP is a four-year programme at the secondary level and a two-year programme at the junior college level.
In 2017, the Ministry of Education (Student Development Curriculum Division) will be presenting the Art Elective Programme Exhibition (AEPE) 2017. The exhibition title “What’s going on?” serves as a guiding question for what goes on in the Art Elective Programme (AEP). Catch glimpses of the AEP students’ thinking processes, the teaching approaches by AEP teachers and artworks that showcase students’ exploration of what’s going on in and around them.
The exhibition showcases works from all seven secondary schools and three junior colleges offering AEP; namely, Bukit Panjang Government High School, CHIJ Secondary School (Toa Payoh), Nanyang Girl’s High School, Hwa Chong Institution (High School and College), National Junior College (Junior High and Senior High), Victoria School, Zhonghua Secondary School, Hwa Chong Institution (College), Nanyang Junior College and National Junior College (Senior High).
The AEP Exhibition 2017 runs from 17 August to 27 August, at the SOTA Gallery, School of The Arts Singapore.
